Some of you may be wondering why there haven’t been any posts from NaturallyHSP for a few months…
To those who’ve subscribed to our blogs, I want to say a big Thank You for your interest and support. Recognising our Highly Sensitive Children and providing the ‘good enough’ childhoods so that they can thrive is fundamental if we want to nurture the Highly Sensitive population so they can share their gifts with the world. This is very much still our aim here at Naturally HSP, even if we aren’t actively writing posts and planning workshops.
While working with Nicole on Naturally HSP, I’ve come to an important realisation. It’s all very well spreading the word about High Sensitivity and the importance of giving our Highly Sensitive Children the best possible start in life, but it means nothing if their Highly Sensitive Mothers aren’t at their best physically and emotionally. Yes, I’m talking about myself here!
It’s easy to neglect yourself when launching a new business. I suspect most people, Highly Sensitive or not, would agree. Add into the equation Highly Sensitive Children and the fact that you’re Highly Sensitive yourself, and things get really tricky. Overwhelm city here we come!
During the past few months I’ve been taking a really close look at what matters to me, where I need to place my energy and how I need to do it. The fact that I’m of no use to my children or my family if I’m not taking care of myself first has really hit home. I think it was an overnight stay in hospital that was my illuminating moment!
For all those Highly Sensitive mothers out there who are so busy running around putting everyone else first and neglecting their own needs, I say ‘STOP’! Stop it right now. Nobody will thank you for making yourself ill. Your family, work colleagues, and friends, all the people who rely on you, need a healthy, happy and fit you, not a frazzled, cranky mess, or worse still, they don’t want to end up having to take care of you!
It’s this very profound realisation that has spurred me on to shift my focus back to my coaching, and to specialise in coaching Highly Sensitive Women. For me, raising healthy, happy and well-adjusted Highly Sensitive Children starts with healthy, happy, well-adjusted mothers. And this, dear and valued readers, is why you haven’t heard much from Naturally HSP recently.
Although our immediate focus may have shifted, we’re still here, and still passionate about supporting parents and carers of Highly Sensitive Children. We always welcome enquiries on coaching, talks or workshops.
If you’re a Highly Sensitive mother and recognise the need to practise some self-care, do take a look at my website: www.ninakhoo.com. I look forward to seeing you there!
